Managing a University Registry in today’s digital age is quite an herculean task but Mr.Omololu Adegbenro,Registrar,Elizade University has been able to prove that despite all odds,the work is moving forward by taking the University to greater heights.
Mr. Omololu Adegbenro,an indigene and Chief of Ilara Mokin in Ondo State has proved himself as an astute administrator managing Elizade University as the pioneer Registrar since establishment till date.
Mr. Adegbenro who holds a Bsc degree from the University of Ibadan where he also obtained his Master’s degree in Communication Arts from the Department of Communication and Language Arts in 1991.
Adegbenro didn’t stop at that,he cemented his quest for journalism and public relations at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) Lagos in 1990 where he obtained a Higher Diploma in Public Relations, Journalism and Newspaper editing from the institute.
Mr. Adegbenro served his journalistic career in the news department of Concord Press of
Nigeria Ltd at Ikeja, Lagos where he worked as Sub-Editor for both Concord newspapers from 1991- 1994.
The Concord Press then was established by Chief M.K.O. Abiola of blessed memory in 1980.
After years of hardwork in the newsroom,Mr. Adegbenro decided to quit the newsroom at the Concord Press for a career in University administration and joined Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) as Assistant Registrar in February 1994.
Adegbenro brought to FUTA along with him his Media background in Journalism and Public Relations training to lay a good foundation for FUTA’s community and external relations.
He explored his rich media experience to raise a good university image for FUTA which he did an earned his accolades.
He was later promoted to Deputy Registrar of the Federal in 2005.
He held the position of Deputy Registrar till 2012 before he joined the services of Elizade University as the pioneer Registrar of the Institution.
Since he joined Elizade University, he has re-organised the office of registrar to rank with other institutions around the globe.
As Chief Omololu Adegbenro adds another year today,the entire Mass Communication department on behalf of Dr. Wole Adamolekun and colleagues wishes him a happy birthday .
